Back on track!

I started Invisalign to straighten my teeth over a year ago and went off track after a chest infection late last year/early this year (can't remember exactly.)

I'd been putting off going back for so long because I didn't think they'd let me continue after this long, plus there was a disagreement about money (which was all a misunderstanding). So I went today and started afresh and got back on track.

I only had to go back 2 aligners fortunately, so I'll be done in a few months.. yayyy.

I'm so happy I've done it. My teeth/smile are the one main thing I've never liked about myself and it stops me smiling and getting photos taken and stuff because I have crooked teeth and a very gummy smile.

So once the treatment is done and my teeth are straight they'll do "gingival recontouring" which is like, cutting the gum into shape to make it all look nice, coz at the moment I have what look like quite short teeth and my gums kinda go straight across, instead of up in an arch around each tooth. So this will fix that, then they also do a teeth whitening to complete it all and I'll be pretty and beautiful and smiling lots :)

Yay. Very happy.

Week 5 - Aligner 3

Today I began Week 5 of my treatment. (Started my 3rd aligners)

I had to go to the dentist to get them, because I had to get my attachments put on.

The attachments are the little red buttons that you can see on the clincheck video below. They're not red when they're put on, they're tooth coloured and you can't notice them too much.

They DO however make it harder to take the aligners out :(

So I took a picture of my teeth today, with the aligners in and attachments put on. It is SO hard to take a good picture of your teeth. It ends up too dark, or too bright, or blurry. This is the best I could get!

Ok so I managed to take them out in a matter of seconds - it was totally easy! I'm so glad aswell, because some people have real trouble getting them out. Although when I get the little attachments on them on the 3rd aligner, it may be harder.

I do, however, have a bit of a headache and am a bit sore, so I'm going to have a lie down.

Hooray for it all going pretty well so far :D

Week 1

I got my first aligners today, yay!

And I'm quite happy with how they feel. They're nowhere near as sore as some people have reported in the forums, just a bit of pressure and a bit tight.

My speech is almost the same as usual, just a bit of lisping on my S's, but if I slow my speaking down a little and concentrate, then it's fine. (I talk very fast as it is, so I'll have to learn to slow down hehe)

I'll take a photo of them in soon, when I can be bothered. But for now, I'm going to go attempt to remove them, so I can have some lunch.

First time, so wish me luck!

Aligner's are ready!

I got a call today to say that my aligners have arrived.

Awesome, right?

Wrong.

My doctor is also apparently away on holiday, so I have to wait until Fri 13th June to go and get them fitted etc

Arrrgggh. I can't wait!

Clincheck

I received a copy of my Clincheck by email. I'm assuming this is the whole thing, but it looks so different moving quickly compared to the proper software version that the dentist had. And it's not as detailed and stuff, so you can't see the full effect.

It doesn't look as good as some other peoples, because my teeth are quite short, and I have a gummy smile - which will be fixed by gum recontouring and teeth shaping at the end. So it just makes my front teeth look square instead of rectangle hehe.

But the main difference is my right front tooth (left on the image). It's quite crossed over the other front tooth, and you can see that straighten out in the image.

But I'm so excited. I really can't wait til the aligners come in.

Welcome!

** DISCLAIMER: These posts might be long, but if you're interested, it'd be great if you read the whole thing. **

Welcome, welcome.

I'll be using this blog to document my journey with Invisalign, to straighten my teeth.

I started my Invisalign journey nearly 2 years ago now - going to see the orthodontist for the first time, finding out about it, seeing if I was a good candidate for treatment. Things got held up due to funds and finance not being available, and before I knew it it was 2008 and I still hadn't done anything about it.

So I got off my bum and went back there and got the process started again. A week or so ago I got the moulds and impressions done, and some photos taken. And today, I got a call to say my Clincheck had arrived and I could come check it out!!

I didn't expect it to be back so soon (when a company say a week to 10 days, they usually don't mean it!), so I was super excited. And the clincheck looked AMAZING. My teeth are going to be FANTASTIC! I can't wait.

And I will only have a treatment time of 10.5 months, whereas I expected 12+ months.

The usual lady is off sick today, but when she gets back she will email me a version of the Clincheck that I can share with everyone.

My journey has finally started. I really can't wait.
